About Love, Silvy -

My name is Kelsea & I am the founder of Love, Silvy. I am a wedding photographer based in lutruwita/Tasmania & I am also a huge animal lover.

I was born in 1990 & grew up on a 10 acre property in Southeast Queensland. On our property we had a cat named Sooty, two kelpies - Samantha & Kaba, a cockatiel named Frederick, a goat named Malcolm, more horses than I can remember the names of & many, many chickens. I’ve always been around animals & they’ve always been a part of my family.

A few years after I moved out of home I met a boy named Tim. Tim also grew up with lots of animals. He was always around cats & dogs, and his mum is even a vet nurse! We hit it off & soon we were planning our wedding!

Late 2012 were invited to housesit for some people we knew. Here, we met Silvy & Tripp. Over the 3 months we looked after their cats, we developed a deep bond with these two beautiful cats - and much to our surprise, when their owners came home, they decided Silvy & Tripp should live with us instead.

Tim & I got married in June 2013. We honeymooned in New Zealand & worked hard over the next 4 years to save up for our next adventure… and then our next adventure.. and our next & so on. We were very lucky to travel each year, sometimes multiple times a year. Every time we’d kiss our sweet babies goodbye & leave them in the hands of our most trusted friends/family.

Along the way we adopted a ginger kitten from the RSPCA that we named Ylva, and in 2020 our love of adventure found us in Tasmania. After saying farewell to everyone we knew, packing up our home & flying our babies down with us, we had a couple of years to settle in before overseas was calling again.

Now based in Sheffield, Tasmania without our wide support network, we realised just how hard it is to find trustworthy people to look after our precious pets while we explore the world. Not only are you welcoming people into your home, you’re also putting the lives of your littlest loves in the hands of people you hope treat them with the love & care they deserve.

Our cats are our whole world & the closest thing we have to children. Tripp, our dapper tuxedo boy, is now 17. He’s a quiet soul who loves snuggling in our laps, especially when there’s a blanket involved. Ylva, our 7-year-old long-haired ginger tabby, is a little shy around new people but absolutely playful & mischievous once she warms up.

And, Silvy… let me tell you about Silvy.

It’s hard to talk about our beautiful girl Silvy without tearing up. As you now know, Silvy came into our lives nearly 13 years ago. She was already an adult cat at almost 6 years old, and what we would have given to know her as a kitten. She was the sweetest cat we’ve ever met. Although we did not know, we suspected Silvy was a Siberian due to her appearance, but she also displayed the characteristics of both a Siberian & a Ragdoll. She was amazing with everyone; always ready for pats & she even loved kids! She slept on our pillows every night, snuggled up in our arms & spent her life chasing warmth.

In November 2024, at nearly 18 years old, Silvy passed away in my arms. It was a moment we could never have prepared for. Even forever with her wouldn’t have been enough.

Through our deepest heartbreak, an idea was born. A way to honour Silvy’s memory & share the love she inspired with other precious pets who mean the world to their families. If you’ve made it this far, I hope you can now understand why I’ve chosen to name my business this.

In our hearts there’s a love letter she wrote & signed - Love, Silvy.

This is for her, because of her.

- Kelsea (& Tim).
